Arts "Hack-a-thon" 2020

What's this Arts "Hack-a-thon"?

Great question! This Arts "Hack-a-thon" idea draws inspiration from the more traditional "hack-a-thons" that involve computer coding. If you are not familiar with these types of events, their typical structure involves gathering students who have 24-48 hours to complete computer coding challenges. We love the rigor and the challenge of this type of competition, and we feel that it will be an engaging, fun, and exciting way to bring Emory students together from all backgrounds, majors, and art-medium interests to create works of art collaboratively in one day!

About

Theme

This year's theme for the Arts "Hack-a-thon" is SUSTAINABILITY

Great...but what does that mean for me?...

Glad you asked! Simply, all artistic creations made during the event need to be based around the theme of sustainability, whether that means executing your pieces and compositions by using solely sustainable or recycled materials, making your subject matter entirely about sustainability and environmental issues, or (preferably) both!

OUR STORY

At the start of 2019, The pARTner Project started out as merely a wisp of an idea strung together by five Emory students who were passionate about the arts and concerned about the lack of cohesion, collaboration, and ease of access for artistic individuals at Emory. Coco Dong, Cynthia Peng, Sophie Rice, Jennifer Zheng, Ava Shaevel sought--and continue to seek--to aid Emory students with getting involved in the arts, engaging with others across different artistic disciplines, and connecting to amazing art events happening in the greater Atlanta area.

Our purpose and continual goal are to put the "ART" in partnership, collaboration, exploration, self-discovery, growth, and achievement at Emory. After almost of year of working, learning, meetings, and growing ourselves, we can finally say that our vision is beginning to come true through our new and official Arts "Hack-a-thon" event coming this Spring!
